Requirements For A Russian Tourist Visa


A tourist visa is issued to applicants who are traveling to Russia for tourist reasons individually, as part of a group or on a cruise.
  1. Passport Requirements: Provide your signed original passport book. NOTE: Your passport book must be valid for at least six months from the date of your planned departure and have at least two blank pages in it. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for visa stamps. We can assist you in renewing or adding pages to your passport.

  2. One (1) completed Visa ApplicationFill out the online application at http://evisa.kdmid.ru. Choose ILS Washington, DC, as the location where you will be applying please do not choose just Washington DC as the application will not be accepted. Print one copy of the application, sign it, and submit it to us. NOTE: Improperly completed forms may delay the processing of your visa. The signature on each Russian visa application must be original.

  3. Two passport photos in color, front view and with a plain/light background.

  4. Proof of Travel: Round trip tickets or a copy of your itinerary that show you have booked tickets to both enter and exit the country. (This is a mandatory requirement of the Embassy.)

  5. Russia Consular Fees:

    Single Entry Visas:
    $170 for 6-20 business day processing*
    $280 for 4-6 business day processing*

    Double Entry Visas are:
    $170 for 6-20 business day processing*
    $280 for 4-6 business day processing*

    Multiple Entry Visas are:
    $170 for 6-10 business day processing*
    $480 for 4-6 business day processing*

    *NOTE: The day your application is received does NOT count as the first business day.

  8. One completed IAG Customer Order Form.

  9. Confirmation of Stay: You must submit the original Standard Tourist Confirmation and Official Voucher issued by an authorized Russian travel agency or a hotel that is registered with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The confirmation should include the reference number, seal, and signature of the authorized agency’s delegated official. NOTE: IAG can assist you obtain the necessary Confirmation and Voucher, if requested. Additional fees will apply.

  10. Letter of Introduction: A cover letter written by the applicant and addressed to the “Embassy of Russia, Visa Section, Washington, D.C.” and which must include the following information:

    • Applicant’s name and the names of the other people they will be traveling with to Russia (listed in alphabetical order);

    • The dates and points of arrival to and departure from Russia, and the planned means of transportation;

    • Itinerary of planned travels in Russia;

Note:

  • Former citizens of Russia MUST submit a Certificate of Renunciation of Citizenship from the Russian Embassy.

  • Former citizens of Soviet Republics MUST submit a copy of their old passport, even if it is no longer valid.

** Russian visa applications are accepted only within 45 days of the proposed entry date to Russia. Please apply only within 45 days of the date of travel.

Additional Requirements and Information:

  1. If you do not have any blank visa pages in your passport, you must first amend your passport to have pages added, or if your passport expires within six months, you must first renew your passport. Please call us to assist you renew your passport, obtain a new one, or add pages to your existing passport book. We can secure your visa using the added pages or new passport.

  2. Non US-passport holders or Temporary foreign visitors with a valid US visa or foreign residents with legitimate status in the US may apply for a Russian visa at the Embassy of Russia. Applicants in these categories must send a photocopy of their US Green Card, Work Permit, I-20 Form, valid US Visa, and valid ID. The Embassy will decide whether to issue the visa on a case-by-case basis. The Embassy may ask the applicant to provide additional documents. Please contact us for more details

  3. Applicants under the age of 16 (sixteen) MUST provide the following documents in addition to the standard requirements stated above:

    • Copy of the Birth Certificate (which states the names of both parents).
    • Letter of Consent signed by both parents
    • Photocopies of the parents' passports (bio-data page) or valid ID

 

Russia Business Visa Requirements

A business visa is issued to applicants traveling to Russia as a student or embassy guest, for commercial reasons, or to participate in a cultural or scientific exchange. 

  1. Passport Requirements: Provide your signed original passport book. NOTE: Your passport book must be valid for at least six months from the date of your planned departure and have at least two blank pages in it. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for visa stamps. We can assist you in renewing or adding pages to your passport.

    • State the nature of the business to be performed by the applicant.

    • Guarantee return transportation and sufficient funds for the applicant’s visit.

    • Be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.

  11. Letter of Invitation: A copy of an Official Letter of Invitation from the organization that will be hosting you and which must be registered with either the Russian Ministry of the Interior or the Russian Foreign Ministry. Please note however, that the Embassy of Russia reserves the right to require originals if they deem it necessary. (A business letter of invitation may be obtained through IAG at an additional cost.)

Requirements For A Russian Homestay Private Visa


A homestay visa is issued to applicants who are traveling to Russia to visit family or friends and will not be staying in a hotel but in the residence of the family or friends. 

  1. Passport Requirements: Provide your signed original passport book. NOTE: Your passport book must be valid for at least six months from the date of your planned departure and have at least two blank pages in it. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for visa stamps. We can assist you in renewing or adding pages to your passport.

  2. One (1) completed Visa ApplicationFill out the online application at http://evisa.kdmid.ru. Choose Washington, DC, as the location where you will be applying. An Original Letter of Invitation: Your relatives or friends (Russian citizens) should provide you with an official letter of invitation bearing your personal data which has been registered with a local office of the Russian Interior Ministry. If you wish to visit your friends or relatives (foreign citizens) currently working or studying in Russia they should obtain an official letter of invitation from the Russian hosting organization (see business visa instructions).

Requirements For A Russian Transit Visa

A transit visa is issued to applicants who will be traveling to a third country via Russia. The visa will be valid for the amount of time deemed necessary for the applicant to travel through Russia to their final destination. 

  1. Passport Requirements: Provide your signed original passport book. NOTE: Your passport book must be valid for at least six months from the date of your planned departure and have at least two blank pages in it. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for visa stamps. We can assist you in renewing or adding pages to your passport.

  2. One (1) completed Visa ApplicationFill out the online application at http://evisa.kdmid.ru. Choose Washington, DC, as the location where you will be applying. Print one copy of the application, sign it, and submit it to us. NOTE: Improperly completed forms may delay the processing of your visa. The signature on each Russian visa application must be original.

  10. Letter of Introduction: A cover letter written by the applicant specifying the planned itinerary, and indicating the arrival and departure dates of the proposed transit.
